May's MS Motomed Marathon
Kilwinning fund raiser May Smalley has come up with a unique way to raise money for local people with Multiple Sclerosis.
She is aiming to pedal a distance equivalent to that of the West Highland Way (96 miles) on her MotoMed therapy machine.
May, who has had MS for over 20 years, recently had a relapse which has left her unable to walk or stand.
A long serving member of MS Ayrshire & Arran Branch, May decided that she would try and complete the distance in 14 days using the therapy machine, which is similar to an exercise bike.
A branch spokesperson said, "This is an effort that is to be much admired as it will take a lot of effort by May. We would appeal to the people of Kilwinning and Ayrshire as a whole to support her."
May's attempt begins on 6th January and a web page has been set up where you can follow her progress at http://msayrshire.com/whw.html
Anyone wishing to sponsor May can do so through the web page or by contacting the local MS Resource Centre at 84 Main St, Kilwinning or by calling 01294 558866.
