What a shocking turn out from the Kilwinning public on Saturday. A first class array of sideshows and attractions, and yet this absymal attendance. Makes you wonder why. Maybe the complete nonsense of the Main Street renvation has knocked the carnival spirit out of us all - it had a bit of atmosphere up the town, what with the narrowness of the street and all the shops, cafes and pubs close at hand.
Having to pay £2 for parking yesterday played an obvious part in keeping people away.....ONE car in the Abbey Primary parking bays at 3pm - quite unbelievable, but sadly true! And I feel had there been an entrance from James Watt College this may have made a difference, instead of having to negotiate a way down Dalry Road, through playgrouds, rooms and corridors to finally arrive at the main venue.
Still, I have to say the organisers put on a marvellous show altogether, and if people will not support such a thing, then maybe this could be Kilwining's last carnival.
this event was well organised...but very poor turn out. Perhaps not enough advertising as everyone I spoke to said "I didn't know it was on" or "was it advertised". The artists who performed were all brilliant and it was a really, really good two days. I am sure future ones would have more people attending if they know about it. Lots of leaflets round houses, schools, librarys, GP surgeries, Dental surgeries etc etc might help.. Kilwinning needs events such as these...please keep on going.. Thanks to everyone for this years fun.
The Event was organised well but there was hardly anyone there it was shocking. It was a very enjoyable day and I helped out with the Abbey Primary School stall on both days and the second day was worse than the first. It is a shame when things that are really fun and enjoyable go to pot because of a poor turn-out.
A well organised event but poorly attended, perhaps we could get all the community associations to help put out flyers to their areas next time with events involving pub teams and such to make it an old style garden fete.

Have your say:
