Kilwinning Horticultural Society
Kilwinning Flower Show - this annual event is organised by Kilwinning Horticultural Society, which was first established in the town in the year 1856. The show is traditionally held on the last Thursday in August, Thursday being the market day in days of yore. Exhibitors can place entries in different classes - cut flowers, pot plants, vegetables, floral art, baking, beers and wines, handicrafts, children and novice Sections. Any queries can be directed to the Secretary (Willie Allan), on 01294 551063 or any member of the Committee. E-mail: willie.allan@btinternet.com
Kilwinning Horticultural Society President Jim McDougall and his Committee would like to extend their sincere thanks to all who contributed in any way to the 2011 Flower Show. This was an outstanding success once again due to the various efforts of committee members, sponsors, exhibitors and patrons alike.
Special thanks go to:
Mary McKee and Joan Wilson for their invaluable secreterial assistance.
Margaret McDougal MSP for opening the Show and running the auction.
The Segdoune Queen and her princesses for their presence.
John McMail for the use of his PA system.
Paddy McCulloch and his NAC team for all their help.
All the schoolchildren who filled our benches - the competition to design next year's schedule cover was particularly strong - the judge had numerous drawings to pick from. After much deliberation, the covers will be by Lauren McGowan and Elise Campbell.
All the guys who helped to clear the Abbey Hall after the Show.
Details of the next Annual General Meeting will be announced soon. This is normally held in the Abbey Church Lesser Hall - new members or interested parties are cordially invited to attend.
We look forward to a repeat next year - keep growing!
